with St.John's Wort
 To
the GemBalance formula, 150 mg of laser energized St. John's
Wort has been added in each capsule for an added benefit
of herbal mood elevation.
St.
John's Wort is the number one prescription for depression
in Germany. Studies have found that St. John's Wort
may be beneficial for mild to moderate depression, but persons
with severe depression require medical attention and more
potent anti-depressant therapy. The mechanism of action
of St. John's Wort is not completely understood.
It
may have a small effect in enhancing the pathways for norepinephrine
and dopamine in the brain, mood elevators as described in
the basic GemBalance write-up above. The greater effect
is believed to be through increasing the central brain effects
of serotonin, the third main mood boosting brain chemical.
This
action may be similar to that of the Serotonin Specific
Reuptake Inhibitor (SSRI) anti-depressants such as Prozac
and Zoloft. The SSRI effect means that serotonin released
into the space between the nerves is specifically inhibited
from being taken back up into the nerve cells. This results
in a higher level of serotonin action on the membranes of
nerve cells that is in turn associated with mood elevation.
Persons
taking SSRI's or other anti-depressants should consult with
their health care practitioners before taking St. John's
Wort or other mood enhancing herbs or nutrients. Adding
St. John's Wort to GemBalance may give a lift to all three
of the main mood boosting brain chemicals: norepinephrine,
dopamine, and the happy hormone serotonin.
Suggested use: 2 capsules in
the morning for a general boost in mood, mental clarity,
and physical energy. For a more potent mood elevating effect,
2 capsules three times per day may assist well.
